Currently the ranch retains much of the character that was provided by Hollywood and the Siftons. Many of the original almond trees remain (about 1500 or so) although many are producing well below otimum. The average life of an almond tree is about 35 years. Even so, in the spring white and pink blosoms cover the trees.   Almond orchard

The 100 year old barn was repaired and re-roofed by Ken's brother-in-law and Doris and Ken. This is the vineyard in the fall.

We demolished the original bunkhouse and have built a 2 bedroom guest house in its place near the barn. Unfortunately, the lake that was built in 1960 was emptied in 1973 and never refilled. The dam and spill way still exist but the area is overgrown and would require major work that we are not prepared to undertake currently. We are removing many of the dead almond trees and have begun a firewood business. All wood has been sold.

Main house   The main house, which was constructed in 1967, continues to serve us well with a few modifications. The is a shot from the almond orchard.

This shows the house (top), the barn (bottom) and the 2 vineyards we planted. The left vineyard was planted in 2003 and the right 2005.
